With the plethora of podcasts today, making your podcast stand out is not an easy task! Here are three ways to set your podcast apart from others to give your listeners a unique taste and keep them coming back for more. Get ready to up your podcast game today!

There’s no doubt that podcasting is exploding right now. As of January 2023, there are approximately 3 million podcasts in the world, ranging over a variety of different topics. If you’re in the industry or thinking about starting a podcast, one of the first questions many people ask is, “How can I make my show stand out?”

Today, we will discuss three ways to set apart your podcast from others to give your listeners a unique taste and keep them coming back for more.

  • Know your style and mission, and create unique content based on that.

As content creators, it’s essential to continue learning and growing every day, but while consuming content from other creators, it can be easy to compare your work to others and lose sight of your unique vision. Be yourself and don’t try to mimic other popular podcasters. It’s essential to be clear on your personal style and mission and always keep it visible. Authenticity can help you build a loyal following and make deeper connections with your audience.

Once you bring yourself back to your style and mission, creating unique content is more manageable and extremely valuable. While you might be teaching on a topic similar to someone else, no one in the world can teach it from your unique, God-given voice and perspective. Lean into who He created you to be, and there’s no doubt you’ll stand out.

  • Engage with your audience.

Engaging with your audience is essential for building a loyal following, and it’s what makes your community yours! A while back, I spoke with a mentor who reminded me that while many people talk about finances (or any other popular topic), some people will come to hear me talk about them because they can relate to my unique voice and want to hear from me. The same is true for you as well.

First, respond to comments, emails and social media messages. Creating an environment and community that allows engagement encourages community members to keep coming back for more. It’s also never a bad idea to ask for feedback to help you create future content ideas based on your audience’s requests.

  • Don’t be afraid to experiment with different formats.

The beautiful thing about podcasting is that it is an art that makes exploring different formats, such as solo episodes, roundtable discussions or storytelling, perfectly OK! Experimenting with these other formats will help you to understand what works best for you and your audience.

Once you determine what works best for you and your community, try to find a consistent pattern that your audience can expect from you. No blanket format works for all podcasters and communities, so knowing there is flexibility to find your unique groove will help your podcast to stand out.

Remember that your show will be successful when you stay true to who you are and where God is calling you. We have all been given unique stories and journeys to reach the people God wants us to reach, so don’t be afraid to lean into what makes you you
