Writers Need Each Other

At COMPEL Training, we believe community is important. That’s why we are creating a membership site where writers can interact and be inspired and encouraged by each other. We are dismantling the idea of competition and building a community of writers who are for each other … who cheer each other on and reach out a hand of support.

Our primary place of community is our members-only Facebook group called the Connection Courtyard.

What you’ll experience here:

  • Monthly COMPEL Classes taught by a variety of publishing industry professionals on countless topics, where you’ll have direct access to engage with the presenters and ask all of your questions in real time.
  • Receive three weeks of invaluable resources to help you delve deeper into learning about the topic shared in the monthly COMPEL Class video.
  • Behind-the-scenes conversations with authors and publishers who will share their insider secrets with you.
  • Announcements about all the COMPEL publishing opportunities and writing challenge details.
  • Weekly celebrations of writing successes, big and small, opportunities to engage on other’s social media platforms and share your own, and ask questions to help you learn from your fellow writers.
  • Question Forum Friday which provides a space to ask your most burning writing questions and have direct access to the COMPEL Leadership Team.

  • One of the important takeaways I have gained from COMPEL is that I am not in this alone. To know I am involved with a community of women who have a similar calling on their life is deeper encouragement than I ever imagined.

  • My writing critique group and the COMPEL teachings have kept me focused and fine tuning my work. My progress used to be somewhat hit or miss; now I'm on a steadier trajectory. One of my devotions was selected for Proverbs 31's Encouragement for Today, and I've been asked to prepare a guest post for First 5, as well as having a proposal requested by a publisher for my idea on writing Bible studies.

  • I had become discouraged, but I didn’t give up on my writing dream. I discovered Proverbs 31 Ministries on the internet and eventually, I joined COMPEL. I found a community of writers where I am able to share my work and receive encouragement and critique. I am still a member because I believe this is one of the most comprehensive online training programs for aspiring writers.

Focus Groups

What if I want to connect with people who share similar writing interests as me?

Great question! In addition to the Connection Courtyard, COMPEL offers topical Focus Groups on Facebook. These groups allow writers to connect with peers who share the same passions and interests as they do and learn from leaders in their specific area of interest.

Below you’ll find a sample of the Focus Groups available for you to join as a COMPEL member:

Critique Groups

Critique groups are a wonderful way for serious writers to get feedback and support for their writing. Critique groups consist of a small group of 8-10 women who invest in each other in giving feedback every month on writing pieces to grow and learn together about the craft of writing. COMPEL members can complete an application and be placed in a Critique Group pending availability.
