3 Tips To Reach More People on Instagram

I love seeing the various social media platforms available and how people utilize them to send their timely message out to the world. Each one has something that makes it special or appealing. For me, it’s Instagram.

I have found it to be a great place to not just gain “followers” but, more importantly, regularly reach people within a specific niche. It’s a space where you can choose the type of audience you want to have or, better yet, the people God placed on your heart to impart to and help. Best of all, it’s super simple and straightforward to use. One of the most user-friendly platforms of all, you can really learn to make the most of Instagram so you can go after your calling and reach those whom the Lord entrusted to you.

But how do we do that? Here are three tips to make the most of Instagram and reach more people than you ever thought possible:

  1.     Decide who.

Deciding who your audience is can be a tricky task, but it’s not impossible. There are all kinds of people who scroll Instagram. Picture the type of person your message would appeal to. For example, if your goal is to encourage and uplift mothers, that’s terrific, but think about what type of mother needs to read your words. Is it the new young mom who is just beginning her journey of motherhood, or is it the seasoned mom of adult children who might be suffering from empty-nester syndrome? Which type of mom are you talking to? Choose your specific target audience.

  1.     Decide what.

You have a picture of your audience in your mind, but now you must actually set out to encourage them with your message. As I scroll and follow people myself, I notice that the accounts who know exactly what they want to say (and to whom) have far more reach and engagement than someone who jumps around from topic to topic. They often share the same type of content over and over, and because they do, they attract their target audience over and over. They’re consistent with their message, and it pays off. Once you have attracted your own audience, remember they’ll stick around only if they can relate to what you’re offering them on a consistent basis.

  1.     Decide when.

Now that you know your who and what, it’s time to share your uplifting content. It’s helpful to set a schedule of what you will post and when. For example, you can decide to post three days a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday), or you may wish to post daily. The beauty is it’s totally up to you. Come up with your own unique schedule and stick to it. Your audience will keep coming back because they’ll know what to expect and when. Don’t forget to actively engage with your intended audience as much as possible. They’ll hang around for the long haul because of it.

Making the most of Instagram doesn’t have to be complicated. Remember, first and foremost, Instagram and other social media platforms are merely a means to be able to share the love, hope and encouragement that the Lord offers. We are but a chosen vessel, and Instagram is one tool we can use. Let’s set out to make the most of it!

 Blessings,
