Resting in God’s Peace During Anxious Times
Does anyone’s soul find it hard to stay at rest when life is uncertain? From one side of the globe to the other, in our current situation with the COVID-19 virus, none of us know exactly what will happen next, but the Lord says it is possible to rest while we wait.
In Psalm 62:5, it says, “Find rest oh my soul in God alone.”
The word “rest” in this verse is to be silent, be still or wait. It is the idea that we are so sure of who holds our future that we stop striving to figure out how it will all unfold, and instead choose to wait and trust the One it’s all for.
When we are reliant on our own ways and our own strength to make sense of it all we live in inner chaos and stress, we know we can’t do it. But when we surrender and admit our lack, God’s peace rushes in to assure us. Even though we can’t see how, we can continue to trust our God, who is still on the throne.
Let’s choose to surrender to Him, even if we have to choose it over and over again, moment by moment. Peace is too expensive to lose over something God already has all worked out. We’ve just yet to see it.
In this time of our world feeling anxious and life drastically changing in such a short time, we as writers who have been entrusted with a gift of crafting words have a powerful tool to bring the peace, hope and love of Christ. As you continue to trust Jesus, lead others to trust Him as well.
We at COMPEL and Proverbs 31 Ministries are praying for you, your families, and that the peace that passes all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
We would love to pray for you if you leave your prayer request in the comments. We would also appreciate you sharing your own prayer over our nation, reminding us all of who it is we are trusting in. We are in this together.
