Struggling With What To Post? Start With What God Is Already Doing

Staring at the blinking cursor and feeling stuck? It’s not that you have nothing to say. It’s that you’re overlooking what God is already doing in and through you. When inspiration is lacking, the ideas might be closer than you think …

Let’s be honest, friend. At some point, every writer hits that moment when the blinking cursor messes with you. You want to be obedient and consistent. You know showing up matters. But your mind feels empty, and creating content starts to feel like one more thing you have to do, rather than creating from a faithful heart.

Here’s what I want you to hold on to:

When you don’t know what to post, you don’t need new inspiration. You need faithful reflection.

When you don’t know what to post or create, it’s usually not because you have nothing to say. It’s because you’re ignoring what God is already doing in and through you.

Start With What You Already Have.

Before you chase the latest trends or overthink strategy, pause and ask yourself a simple question: What have I already lived, learned, or wrestled with in this season? That’s what your audience wants to know.

Some ideas might be:

  • A sentence from your journal or quiet time that won’t let you go.
  • A challenge you’re currently praying through.
  • A small obedience that felt hard but mattered.
  • A lesson you learned the hard way (those personal nuggets are gold for your audience).

Scripture reminds us, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9, NIV). Sometimes “doing good” looks like showing up honestly, even when the content feels small.

Reuse, Reframe, Repurpose.

It’s OK to repeat yourself. (Actually, you should.) If God taught you something more than once, chances are someone new needs to hear it again.

Try this:

  • Turn a blog paragraph into a short post.
  • Pull one line from an older piece and add a fresh reflection.
  • Share a “then vs. now” perspective on a lesson God keeps refining.

Speak to One Woman, Not the Algorithm.

Sometimes posting feels overwhelming. I get it. But just for a moment, I want you to imagine a sister friend who needs encouragement. Not a crowd. Not metrics. What would you tell this one friend if you were sitting across the table with coffee? Post that.

When in Doubt, Put a Name on the Season.

One of the most freeing posts you can share is simply naming where you are:

  • “I’m learning to trust God with …”
  • “This season has been stretching me in …”
  • “I don’t have answers yet, but here’s what I’m holding on to …”

That kind of honesty creates connection and reminds others they’re not alone.

Friend, if you’ve been struggling with what to post, this is your gentle reminder to step back, pause, and look within your own life at what God is doing. There is so much beauty to share from that place. You are being shaped. And your voice, right where you are, is enough.

Blessings,

Regina Lewis
