A Writer’s Prayer

Are you a writer or creative who could use a little encouragement on your writing journey? One of the best things we can do when we are feeling overwhelmed is go to God and ask for the wisdom and help we need. Today we have a special prayer for you, dear friend. May it be the breath of fresh air you need as you press on toward your dreams …

Heavenly Father,

I come to You with a soul that feels alone, a mind that often feels stuck, and a heart that sometimes feels heavy. You understand the unique challenges of this work. You see the quiet hours, the unseen efforts, and the deep desire to serve You and others through the words and content I create. Thank You for being the God who sees.

Lord, remind me that I am never alone because You never leave or forsake me. But I ask that You lead me to human connections that refresh my spirit and operate as Your hands and feet in my life — those who will walk alongside me, cheer me on, and share in the joys and struggles of this path. Help me trust that You are building a community for me that will uplift and strengthen me in the times I need it most.

I come to You feeling stuck and unsure of what to write or create. My mind feels clouded. Lord, I need Your guidance and inspiration. Fill me with the clarity only Your Spirit can provide. Unlock creativity within me, and remind me the gifts You have placed in my life are not mine alone but are meant to reflect You and bless others. Help me to release the fear of failure and striving for perfection. I ask for fresh ideas and a renewed passion for the work You’ve called me to do.

I bring You my heart that feels the sting of hurtful words. You know how deeply they can cut, yet You remind me that my identity is not found in the opinions of others but in You alone. Lord, help me to release these words and not let them take root in my heart or shake my confidence in my calling. Teach me to respond with grace, even when I feel wounded. Guard my heart against bitterness or discouragement, and remind me that the approval or criticism of others does not define my worth. Lord, when the world’s voices are loud, let Your voice be louder. Help me pray for those who leave hurtful comments, knowing they may carry burdens or pain. May my response reflect Your love, even when it’s hard.

Whisper to me that I am Your child, chosen and loved, and that You are pleased when I use the gifts You’ve given me to serve You and others. Strengthen my resolve to keep going, knowing that this work is not about pleasing everyone but about honoring You.

Thank You, Lord, for the opportunity to create, serve and glorify You through my work. I place this journey in Your hands, trusting in Your perfect timing and provision. Thank You for being my source of inspiration, my ever-present help in times of need. I trust that You will lead me forward, step by step, as I surrender my work to You.

In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

  1. Thank you, Karen, for expressing the words in my heart so perfectly. I pray a consistent “strengthen my resolve to keep going”…to press on toward the goal, which is to glorify God through the calling He has placed on my life. I love this reminder, that, “the gifts You have placed in my life are not mine alone, but are meant to reflect You and bless others.”
    This is my daily prayer.
Thank you for your obedience to His calling. May God continue to bless the work of your hands, and your heart.

  2. Thank you, Karen. This was an encouraging word is due time. At times I feel like I’m on a roller coaster of emotions with this business of writing. As you prayed, I have to remember my sole purpose is to honor Him. A quote I just read today by Beth Moore is, “God doesn’t want our confidence regulated by our audience.” So true! Blessings By Faith, Dee

  3. This is beautifully written and rests right in alignment with my current place. Thank you for sharing! I will save this a continue to repeat these powerful and fitting words. 🙂
