There were so many years I felt lost in my writing journey.
I had more questions than answers, and more rejection letters than readers. And the vulnerable feelings took me back to the little girl I was when I got my very first typewriter.
When I placed my fingers on the dusty keys, something began to feel settled in my heart that had felt broken for so long.
Words came from my fingertips that my lips couldn’t process…
Tears turned into crafted poems and stories…
And that typewriter became my safe place to land when everything else felt so uncertain.
Over time, I dared to strike a key or two or 10,000. Letters became words. Words became chapters. Chapters became books.
But even now, sometimes all-too-familiar and fragile feelings flare up, making me feel so vulnerable in this great pursuit of continuing to put words to paper. That little girl at the typewriter is inside all of us in some way.
I know what it feels like to have a lot of great ideas but no clue how to turn them into words that really matter and help people.
But I also promised myself that if I ever figured any of this out, I would help equip and encourage the people coming behind me who have the same stirring in their souls.
So, because I adore you and I think you have such brilliant potential, I want to share with you the three most important lessons I’ve learned about writing that changed those rejection moments into blogs, devotions, stories and even books.
These lessons will help you:
  • Find transferrable truths from what God has been teaching you personally that will lead to powerful life change for your readers on their own journeys.
  • Recognize tired and typical writing with three critical strategies for taking your words from ordinary to extraordinary.
  • Discover five keys to provide practical application to help readers experience spiritual transformation.
I also deeply understand how lonely writing can be. So I want to invite you to join me and some of my dear writer friends in the community of COMPEL Writers Training! Every one of us has words inside that were never meant to just rumble about, hidden away. They are meant to be shared. And sometimes all we need are the right encouragers around us to get those words released into the world.
Stop feeling stuck and really put those important words of yours on paper alongside friends who really get it and want to support you in your dreams.
I’m so thankful we get to learn together!

I’m thinking of signing up. I’ve always wanted to be a writer and a speaker, and I do have some ability with words. I’m just terrified. I THINK it’s a calling from God, but I’m not certain. Compel seems like it might give me some structure and guidance to go from dream to doing.

I am in the same spot as you Kelly. I’ve always written a variety of materials, but this has me petrified. I had researched other avenues of writing and this just unfolded in front of me out of the blue. So I also THINK it’s a calling from God, but I’m not entirely sure. I just want to make sure that I, too, am doing it for the good of God’s kingdom and not my own. I guess I am just hoping to take away additional skills and insights to better my writing no matter the outcome. I will just have to trust God with that part. Good Luck! and God bless!
